Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking a skilled and experienced Oilfield LDAR (Leak Detection and Repair) Technician to join our team. As an LDAR Technician, you will be responsible for performing leak detection and repair activities on oil and gas production equipment and facilities. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying and addressing fugitive emissions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Location: Three Rivers, Texas

Schedule: Mon-Friday; No Rotation - Candidates should live within a 60 mile radius. No man-camp available.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct leak detection surveys using various methods and equipment, such as infrared cameras, organic vapor analyzers, and toxic vapor analyzers.
  • Identify and locate potential leaks in valves, flanges, connectors, and other equipment components.
  • Perform leak repairs and recommend appropriate corrective actions to mitigate emissions.
  • Follow established protocols and procedures for LDAR programs to ensure accurate and consistent results.
  • Document findings, repairs, and data accurately using handheld devices or other data management systems.
  • Coordinate with operations personnel to schedule repairs and minimize production downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and standards.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety and adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Keep updated records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of LDAR procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize LDAR operations and achieve departmental goals.


Equipment Experience:

 

 

  • Infrared Cameras: These cameras capture thermal images that help identify temperature differences associated with potential leaks.
  • Organic Vapor Analyzers (OVAs): OVAs are portable devices used to detect and measure volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that may indicate leaks.
  • Toxic Vapor Analyzers (TVAs): TVAs are used to detect and measure hazardous gases or vapors, such as benzene or hydrogen sulfide, that may be released from leaks.
  • Fugitive Emission Detection Equipment: LDAR technicians may utilize specialized equipment, such as portable detectors and sniffers, to detect fugitive emissions from equipment components.
  • Handheld Data Management Devices: LDAR technicians use handheld devices or tablets to record and document findings, repairs, and data during inspections. These devices may be equipped with software for data management and reporting.
  • Calibration Equipment: LDAR technicians require calibration equipment to ensure the accuracy and reliability of their detection devices, such as calibration gases and calibration standards.
  • Safety Equipment: LDAR technicians use personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure their safety while working in potentially hazardous environments. This may include gloves, safety glasses, respirators, and other necessary protective gear.

Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications:

 

 

  • 3+ years experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as an LDAR Technician in the oilfield industry is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of LDAR regulations, methodologies, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of various leak detection technologies and their applications.
  • Familiarity with oil and gas production equipment and processes.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks.
