The Role

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Planning Engineer to give project planning support to the Power Solutions UK - Transmission & Distribution business, based in Glasgow on a permanent basis. The planning support will include preparing schedules for tender submissions, and providing weekly and monthly progress updates on design and construction schemes for Overhead Lines & Cabling Projects.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing planning support to schemes including preparation of tender schedules and submissions in collaboration with the Estimator, Design Engineers and Construction delivery team
  • Planning support for Engineering, Procurement and Construction schemes, including weekly and monthly progress updates of contract schedules, critical path analysis, resource profiles, earned value reports, schedule narrative and production norm reports etc
  • Commercial entitlement promoted and highlighted to delivery teams
  • Ensure all planning and project control activities are delivered in accordance with Wood guidelines and 'Planning Best Practices'
  • Depending on workload across T&D business, planning support may be required in other areas of the business including other regional Overhead lines and EHV cable schemes.
  • Travelling to other locations in the UK to support where required and this will include overnight stays.


Skills / Qualifications

Essential
  • Expert user of Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable
  • NEC 3 Form of Contract
  • Planning of substation construction projects
  • Member of Guild of Project Controls

Experience
  • It is essential to be able to work as a team member, working collaboratively with the Client and other team members for the successful delivery of projects.
  • The individual shall be proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
  • Desirable to have experience in the development and delivery of substation schemes or other transmission and distribution projects
  • Experience in NEC conditions of contract.
  • Enthusiasm and ability to integrate into a team, with the skill to liaise with and challenge the site delivery team
  • Good written and spoken English communication skills
  • Earned Value analysis and cost-loaded programmes
  • Work breakdown structures
