A logistics coordinator in the offshore wind industry plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of materials, equipment, and personnel to support offshore wind projects
Responsibilities:

  • Supply Chain Management: Coordinate the procurement and delivery of materials, equipment, and services required for offshore wind projects. Work closely with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to the offshore site or designated locations.

  • Transportation and Logistics: Arrange and coordinate transportation logistics, including shipping, freight forwarding, and customs clearance for equipment, components, and personnel. Collaborate with shipping agents, carriers, and logistics providers to optimize transportation routes, reduce costs, and minimize transit times.

  • Inventory Control: Monitor and manage inventory levels of critical components and spare parts required for offshore wind operations. Maintain accurate records of stock levels, coordinate with procurement teams to replenish inventory as needed, and implement inventory tracking systems to prevent shortages or excess stock.

  • Documentation and Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, permits, and certifications related to transportation, customs, and environmental requirements. Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including shipping manifests, customs paperwork, and compliance records.

  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to support the planning and execution of offshore wind projects. Assist in coordinating project schedules, resource allocation, and logistics planning to ensure seamless project delivery.

  • HSE Compliance: Promote and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices within the logistics operations. Collaborate with HSE teams to identify and mitigate potential risks, implement safety procedures, and monitor compliance throughout the logistics process.

  • Communication and Coordination: Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders involved in logistics operations. Communicate effectively with project teams, suppliers, contractors, and offshore personnel to ensure smooth coordination, resolve issues, and provide regular updates on logistics activities.

  • Incident and Problem Management: Identify and address any incidents, disruptions, or problems that may arise during logistics operations. Implement contingency plans, work with stakeholders to resolve issues, and provide timely solutions to minimize project delays or interruptions.

  • Cost Control and Budgeting: Monitor logistics-related costs and expenses, including transportation, customs duties, storage, and other logistical services. Work with finance teams to track and manage logistics budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement efficient cost control measures.

  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate logistics processes and identify areas for improvement. Propose and implement process enhancements, automation, and technology solutions to optimize logistics operations, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • The logistics coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely delivery of materials and services to support offshore wind projects, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of operations.
