We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to support Dimlington Gas Terminal. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of mechanical systems and equipment at the terminal. Your expertise will be pivotal in maintaining the integrity of critical assets and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimise operational performance.

This is a Monday to Friday role to be based either at Dimlington terminal or Norwich office.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Equipment Maintenance and Reliability: Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment, including compressors, turbines, pumps, and various rotating machinery. Ensure that all mechanical assets are functioning efficiently and reliably to meet operational demands. Identify risks and opportunities for improvement.

Repairs and Fault Resolution: Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and mechanical failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain production.

Asset Integrity Management: Implement and adhere to the terminal's asset integrity management system, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. Carry out risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks associated with mechanical equipment.

Project Management: Participate in various engineering projects, including upgrades, modifications, and expansions of mechanical systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, other engineers, and contractors, to ensure successful project execution within designated timelines and budgets.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Promote a strong safety culture within the organization by following all HSE guidelines, conducting safety inspections, and actively participating in safety meetings. Identify and address potential safety hazards related to mechanical systems and equipment.

Performance Optimization: Analyse operational data, identify inefficiencies or areas for improvement, and propose solutions to enhance equipment performance, energy efficiency, and overall productivity.

Compliance and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inspection reports via the Site Assurance Survey process and the use of the Computerised Maintenance Management System, Maximo. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to mechanical engineering practices.

Training and Development: Mentor and guide technicians, providing technical expertise and knowledge transfer to enhance the team's capabilities and skills.

Safety Critical Tasks:

Valve and Actuators

Fundamental knowledge requirements for Mechanical Engineers supporting the performance testing, assurance, maintenance, and failure analysis of actuated and non-actuated valves.

Safety & Environmentally Critical Courses:

CompEx Ex11 Mechanical or TMM15 Diagnosing Mechanical Faults in Explosive

Key Requirements Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the oil and gas industry or a similar process-oriented environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and machinery commonly used in the gas processing industry, e.g., pumps, compressors, vessels and valves.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with HSE regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., API, ASME) are advantageous.
  • Understanding of DSEAR and ATEX regulations and control of ignition of mechanical equipment in hazardous areas.
  • Understanding of Management of Change processes and the importance it plays within an organisation.
  • Good vendor management and the ability to develop and maintain interdepartmental relationships within the organisation.
