Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Lead/Principal Electrical Designer with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.

Wood is undergoing significant growth in our North Sea engineering and modifications business and we are delighted to offer a range of long-term opportunities (5 years +) across a variety of our clients and scopes. We are looking for candidates with a range of experience and skill sets to enhance our services.

  • Define Electrical design requirements for technical scopes
  • Development of deliverables and documentation required for use in offshore workpacks and in the supply chain
  • Support the development of and/or develop requisitions for the procurement of Electrical related material and equipment
  • Undertake design checking of Electrical deliverables
  • Provide support to the Lead Electrical Engineer and the project delivery team
  • Provide Electrical design technical expertise to the project
  • Resolve Electrical related design issues by applying accepted principles, codes and standards
  • Adhere to procedures to assure technical integrity of Electrical designs
  • Provide support for interdiscipline considerations through attendance at required design reviews and undertaking inter discipline checking
  • Maintain own knowledge and understanding to meet competence requirements of Principal Electrical Designer
  • Provide feedback on lessons learnt to aide in continuous improvement
  • Utilise software tools in design development and checking (eg Autocad, Intergraph, Navisworks , PDMS, S3D, Hexagon)
  • Assess progress and associated reports and advise of any slippages, correct inefficiency and take any resulting agreed actions


Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • HNC / HND or equivalent professional qualification with extensive relevant experience

Minimum Experience:
  • Demonstrable balance of industrial and management experience at relevant level and position
