We are seeking a Senior Geologist to be responsible for leading all aspects of geology in the subsurface department and reports to the Head of Subsurface. You will coordinate all geological activities including analysis of geological data & perform geological studies including the construction of static geological models. You will be able to provide estimates of risk and STOIIP/GIIP based on the consolidation of all subsurface uncertainties and work as an integral member of the subsurface team and interface with all the other subsurface functions

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Interpret geological data at all scales from regional data to individual well data
  • Responsible for providing STOIIP/GIIP estimates using deterministic and probabilistic tools
  • Responsible for maintaining the prospective resources inventory
  • Responsible for ensuring that the geological risks and uncertainty are identified and communicated
  • Construct static reservoir models for use in dynamic simulation
  • Provide input to drilling programmes and reservoir management plans
  • Represent Prax at Technical Committee meetings and with external parties as required including the North Sea Transition Authority
  • Provide input to Prax's Field Development Plans & New Business Evaluations
  • Ensure that appropriate geological tools are available as required (e.g. Petrel, GIS)
  • Maintenance and reporting of the companies GIS based infrastructure data set for NSTA
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe and environmentally responsible manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and Hurricane's Business Management and Environmental Management Systems

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree and post-graduate qualification in Geoscience

 

Skills & Attributes

  • Experience across the asset life cycle from exploration, appraisal, development, production and abandonment activities.
  • Demonstrable experience in working on development and producing assets including having contributed to well programmes
  • Sound cross discipline skills, with an understanding of the interfaces between geology and other subsurface functions
  • Technical in-depth knowledge of building static geological models
  • Experience of both fractured and clastic reservoirs
  • Experienced in the following: -
  1. Providing geological input to field development plans
  2. Using Petrel or equivalent modelling tools
  3. Performing analytical estimates (both deterministic and probabilistic) of in place volumetric calculations
  • Knowledge of operating within the UKCS and an understanding of the regulatory requirements
  • Highly motivated with good analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate across technical specialists of all disciplines
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and perform effectively under pressure
  • Demonstrates ability to provide detailed analysis when required
  • Clearly communicates their technical work either to other technical experts or to a broader section of the workforce
