Job Title: Lead Development Geologist

Job Location: Eashing, Surrey

Employment Type: 3-6 Month Contract

 

Job Purpose:

The Lead Development Geologist is responsible for performing targeted geological studies in the subsurface department and reports to the Head of Subsurface.

The role involves providing geological input to evaluating and planning field development activities for both operated and non-operated assets. In addition, evaluation of near field appraisal/evaluation opportunities and new business evaluations could be required.

The geologist should be able to provide estimates of risk and STOIIP/GIIP based on the consolidation of all subsurface uncertainties.

The Lead Development Geologist is expected to work as an integral member of the subsurface team and interface with all the other subsurface functions and ensure that geological lessons best practice is shared across the geological function.

 

Accountabilities:

Interpret geological data at all scales.

Responsible for providing Geological input to field development activities (infill drilling, workovers) including target identification and reservoir management plans.

Construct static reservoir models for use in dynamic simulation and be able to evaluate Operators models.

Responsible for ensuring that the geological risks and uncertainty are identified and communicated.

Represent Prax Upstream at Technical Committee meetings and with external parties as required including the North Sea Transition Authority

Ensure that appropriate geological tools are available as required (e.g., Petrel/T-Navigator, GIS)

Works within approved subsurface budgets

Engage with external contractors for specialist studies.

Qualifications:

A degree and post-graduate qualification in Geoscience

Skills & Competencies:

Demonstrable experience in working on development and producing assets including having contributed to well programs. Experience of late life asset work is an advantage.

Sound cross discipline skills, with an understanding of the interfaces between geology and other subsurface functions, in particular reservoir engineering

Experienced in the following: -

Using Petrel or equivalent static modelling tools

Using probabilistic and deterministic volumetric analyses

GIS based mapping systems.

Knowledge of operating within the UKCS and an understanding of the regulatory requirements is an advantage.

Highly motivated with good analytical and interpersonal skills

Ability to communicate across technical specialists of all disciplines.

Ability to work to tight deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.

Demonstrates ability to provide detailed analysis when required.

Clearly communicates their technical work either to other technical experts or to a broader section of the workforce.
