Title
SR. DRILLING ENGINEER

Primary Purpose of Job
To undertake engineering studies related to drilling and workover optimization (including the introduction of new technology) and to provide technical support for the onshore and offshore drilling operations. 1. Provide expert advice to drilling operations especially with regard to non-routine problem solving to ensure safe and efficient drilling performance in an economic and environmentally acceptable manner. 2. Participate in evaluating new drilling and workover technology through detailed and systematic assessment of their technical merits to identify fit for purpose solutions and services that will enhance drilling, completion and workover operations. 3. Identify evaluate and recommend new technology solutions by applying the "New Technology Procedure" as specified in the DRM to enhance drilling, completion and workover operations for onshore and offshore projects. 4. Analyse the daily drilling workover and completion activities in terms of technical performance and DRM compliance by scrutinizing the OpenWells daily reports to identify problems and thereafter develop appropriate solutions. 5. Review current casing designs by application of the appropriate software to recommend design optimizations. 6. Contribute to HSE management in drilling workover and completion operations, by participating in management HSE inspections, attending HSE meetings, performing "Process Safety" and risk assessment studies to help ensure the Drilling HSE objectives are achieved. 7. Assist with incident investigations with special attention to the correct identification and evaluation of underlying root causes to ensure that appropriate actions are taken to avoid re-occurrence. 8. Carry out special studies and assignments as required to make recommendations in areas such as: optimization of rig configuration; standardization of equipment and procedures and methods to enhance overall drilling safety and efficiency to help deliver the Drilling & Completions Department objectives for continuous performance improvement. 9. Contribute to improving drilling contractor and service company performance by reviewing their performance against agreed KPI's in order to develop recommendations to optimize operations. 10. Ensure full compliance with Corporate, Directorate and Departmental QHSE & BCM policies and procedures by planning and co-ordinating Service Quality Meetings (SQM's) for allocated contractors with the objective to identify problems areas that require follow-up or best practices to be cascaded and implemented by other contractors.

Education
1. BSc. in Petroleum Engineering (or related engineering discipline) plus relevant drilling industry courses

Experience & Skills
2. Minimum 10 years experience in Drilling related operations. Preferably 2-3 years well site experience, 5-6 years in operations engineering as well as exposure to field development and feasibility studies. 3. Strong skills and experience in mastering Landmark EDM software specially StressCheck and WELLPLAN applications and results interpretations. 4. Experience in drilling engineering research and studies are preferred. 5. Strong analytical and communication skills required together with excellent computer literacy. 6. Fluent in spoken and written English and with well developed report writing skills. 7. A high calibre and confident professional is essential for the satisfactory performance of this position.
