Join our dynamic Technology team as a Mid-Career Electrical Engineer, focusing on providing vital support to our existing product portfolio. Collaborate closely with a seasoned group of engineers spanning multiple disciplines to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues, update and maintain Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs, and ensure the smooth transition of designs to production. Your adeptness in component engineering, circuit board testing, and PCB layout will be key in sustaining our products' success. This on-site position offers a unique opportunity to engage in impactful cross-functional teamwork within a challenging laboratory environment.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain up-to-date PCB designs and Bill of Materials (BOMs) by generating intricate drawings, schematics, component libraries, PCB layouts, and models using tools such as Altium.
  • Take charge of diagnosing and conducting root cause analysis for electrical anomalies found in customer products and on the production line. Implement solutions to resolve these issues.
  • Formulate solutions to tackle component obsolescence concerns and drive their execution.
  • Execute experiments at the component, board, and system levels to validate their viability in products.
  • Adhere to robust engineering principles throughout the electrical circuit design and component selection process. This includes conducting design reviews, crafting prototypes, executing test plans for performance verification and qualification, and meticulously documenting the outcomes.
  • Guide designs through the development and qualification cycle. Collaborate with contract manufacturers, troubleshoot and initiate PCB assembly, and ultimately facilitate the transition of your design to production using Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and a Configuration Management release procedure.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficiency in utilizing engineering Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for circuit board design, schematic capture, and PCB layout (Strong proficiency in Altium is preferred).
  • Experience in component selection and qualification, coupled with a familiarity with addressing component obsolescence challenges and exploring alternate sourcing options.
  • Your knack for hands-on troubleshooting shines during board initialization, characterization, and the integration of hardware at the system level.
  • Familiarity with PCB manufacturing and assembly processes, encompassing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) principles.

Core Qualifications
Required:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in the development and testing of electronic assemblies, circuit boards, and instruments.

  • Compensation - The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $100,000 - $120,000 annually
