JOB SUMMARY

 

The cost accountant position is responsible for all aspects of Manufacturing and Production costing analysis and inventory for the manufacturing location in Magnolia. The cost accountant is responsible for comparing estimated cost to actual cost and identifying and explaining variances by customer, part number, and production jobs.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Responsible for maintaining the company's product costs while continually analyzing the cost of goods manufactured.
  • Maintain and monitor cost estimates for materials and labor, as well as analyze production costs and recommend changes.
  • Validate and strengthen current costing processes.
  • Focus on collecting and analyzing data about the manufacturing costs and hours of the product. Review and process cost roll requests.
  • Interacts with cross-functional teams including manufacturing operations.
  • Performs detailed analysis of inventory costs to assist in the development of standard costs and understanding of inventory variances.
  • Supports accounting team on the analysis of inventory Excess and Obsolete (E&O). assist with the analysis and update of individual inventory items' E&O reserve requirements based on finance guidelines. Provide E&O explanations and analysis as needed.
  • Responsible for monthly cost reporting and variance explanations. Complete monthly journal entries as assigned.
  • Assist with yearly budgeting, physical inventory audits, and internal controls documentation and auditing.
  • Recommending changes to the company's processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • B.S. degree in Accounting from an accredited university required
  • Minimum seven (7) years of general accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing
  • Cost Accounting experience. (Required)
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably D365
  • Able to work in a team setting. Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Above average working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly advanced Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
