Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting a Competence Specialist with Mechanical bias for a Technical Competence Specialist role.

The Technical Competence Specialist will be responsible for:

 

  • Supporting and assessing our Competence Assurance Management Systems and programmes
  • Carrying out Assessment and Verification of portfolios
  • Inputting into the continuous improvement of our competence assurance systems and processes
  • Assisting with audit and other key tasks related to client and other 3rd party relationships
  • Contributing to developing and retaining motivated and competent people


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

 

  • Assure and support competency delivery within projects
  • Support delivery and input into competence targets - monthly, quarterly and annual
  • Carry out assessment and verification of portfolios
  • Support employees undertaking Assessor and Verifier qualifications
  • Support employees undertaking Supervisory Management Training Development qualifications
  • Mentor and support Apprentices and Improvers
  • Monitoring standards to ensure compliance with National, Client and Corporate standards
  • Participate in NOS reviews and development for their particular discipline
  • Advise sites on competence and training issues ensuring consistency of approach
  • Carry out Professional Competence Discussions
  • Regularly review and update Competence portfolios to ensure validity of plant and equipment
  • Assist in the development of new in-house standards for the UK region
  • Liaise and support sites with personnel development matters
  • Assist with carrying out onshore competence assessments
  • Work in conjunction with Skills Pool Team to review and update WOOD centres procedures and processes
  • Support the development of technical role profiles and the development of specific job descriptions
  • Support and assist with annual occupational competence assessments
  • Active Monitoring L4 assurance (active monitoring where we have a duty of care when our employees are working directly under our clients management systems)
  • Provide general advice and support as part of a multi-disciplinary team

 


NB: Additional contract specific requirements will apply depending on the contract the Competence Specialist is assigned to.

Skills / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

 

  • 9DI-A1 Assessor or D32/D33
  • L&D 11-V1 Verifier or working towards or D34
  • Operations or Maintenance N/SVQ


Minimum Experience:

 

 

  • Understanding of the Competence & Skills Pool team and its role in Competency Management and compliance
  • Demonstrable experience in a competence related role
