Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently searching for a talented Senior Structural Engineer to support our Consulting group in the Houston, TX office. The Senior Structural Engineer will assist the group personnel in developing and delivering work scopes on an established team.

The successful candidate must have a reputation in their field for quality project delivery and client satisfaction. The candidate should be capable of selling and performing work, flexible in assignments, willing to go offshore and be comfortable with the full life-cycle of a project (from initial pursuit through close-out). The candidate will be proficient in applicable codes and standards. The candidate will be knowledgeable in related engineering and science fields for management and coordination purposes.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Deliver subsea structural engineering scopes, including Manifolds, PLETs, and Jumpers.
  • Deliver subsea structural engineering scopes at PreFEED, FEED, and Detailed Design phases of proejects.
  • Perform consulting, structural assessments, analyses, drawings support, and report writing.
  • Work closely with structural designers and other subsea engineering disciplines, such as systems, pipeline, and installation engineers.
  • Interact with specialists in other technical practice areas in support of multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Coordinate with design teams to define work scope, schedule and budget.
  • Contact vendors, research literature and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow company safety standards, engineering processes and quality procedures.


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering (preferred), Mechanical Engineering, or Subsea Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years (up to 8 years) relevant structural and subsea design experience, specifically the design of subsea structures, including Manifolds, PLETS, and Jumpers.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • Proficient user of the following: AUTOPIPE or equivalent. Finite Element Analysis software (such as SACS or ANSYS or ABAQUS).
  • Knowledgeable of subsea structures codes.
  • Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and work well in teams as well as mentor interns and graduate engineers.
  • Must be a US or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood.
